Sydney Running Festival Sydney Running Festival comes to the Parklands

On Sunday we had a visit from around 3,800 visitors (including three “wheelies“) in a hurry! The annual Sydney Running Festival, the key legacy event of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, followed that now famous thin blue line from Milsons Point to the Sydney Opera House.

The day was a glorious sunny morning with early 20 degree temperatures. This year’s marathon was won by Japanese runner, Yuki Kawauchi, in course record time, with Australian wheelchair athlete Kurt Fearnley winning the wheelchair title.

The course itself is a winding course that enters and exits the Parklands through Moore Park, with a circuitous route around Centennial Park thrown in for good measure.

Readers of this blog will recall a previous post about the marathon course’sthin blue line that winds through Centennial Park. You’ll be happy to hear that it got a foot pounding but is still in great shape!

We are delighted to be part of this annual event and congratulate all runners and event organisers for yet another successful occasion.
